Description
The Shree Satyanarayan Vrat Katha services in Gurugram Sector 81 are one of the most popular and significant religious observances in Hinduism, dedicated to Lord Vishnu. The ritual is derived from the Skanda Purana and is usually performed to express gratitude to the Almighty during happy occasions or to seek blessings for a new beginning.
The Katha consists of five chapters. Each chapter tells a story of different individuals. It involves the installation of a wooden platform (chowki), decorating it with banana leaves, and placing an idol or photo of Lord Satyanarayan. The priest recites the stories while devotees listen with focus. The most important part of the ritual is the Prasad, known as PANJRI, made of wheat flour, sugar, ghee, and dried fruits.
